Major Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has increased strikes on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and applying penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.
